Exploring Sweet Auburn: A Civil Rights History Tour
Product Details

Take a journey through recent history on this walking tour of Atlanta’s Sweet Auburn neighborhood. The tour starts at the Atlanta Breakfast Club, giving you a chance to get some coffee or a bite to eat before you step back in time to the Civil Rights Movement. I’ll show you where Martin Luther King is buried, and where he was born. I’ll also point out Fire Station No. 6 and the many churches with links to the Civil Rights Movement. While exploring the history of MLK's life and legacy, we’ll venture off the main path to see great skyline views of Atlanta. We’ll explore the changes made in recent times to this ever-evolving neighborhood, peppered with historical landmarks. Architecture fans will have their hands full snapping photos of the restored Queen Anne-style homes, and Jackson Street Bridge. Towards the end of our journey, I’ll take you through the funky Edgewood neighborhood, where the vibe changes significantly. Great photo ops appear thanks to large sweeping murals and unique watering holes. We’ll end our tour by paying tribute to a few more historical spots, and exploring a quaint museum dedicated to Madame CJ Walker, the first female self-made millionaire. I hope you enjoy discovering this neighborhood, steeped in history!
