St. Augustine is the oldest, continuously occupied city in the United States. It was once a harsh place to live, and many have lost their lives trying to tame this land. On this walking tour, you’ll hear about several hauntings in the city’s northern side, and also leave with a greater respect for what lies just beyond the thin veil of life. During this ghostly adventure, your tour guide and ghost investigator, John Hippie Sanchez, will share some awesome stories. Starting along the bayfront near the Bridge of Lions, you’ll visit two of the oldest cemeteries in the city and a former Native American burial ground. You’ll also hear about Elizabeth, St Augustine’s most famous apparition, and you’ll find out why she has a dedicated police radio code. St Augustine’s history is long and tragic and on this storytelling adventure, you’ll hear more than names and dates. You’ll see scars around every dark corner and learn the stories of locals who lived, died (many in brutal ways), and remain here. Most importantly, you’ll learn whether to stay and make contact, or run for your life. Along the way, you’ll have a chance to: • Learn about the four kinds of apparitions, and how some are evil but others just need a friend • Walk across the city’s second-largest unmarked cemetery with 102 bodies • Explore the hallowed grounds around the first cemetery and hear about the little boy in the trees • Take in the views of Slaughter Bay, once known as the Bay of Dancing Dolphins • See the Potter’s Wax Museum building which sits on an Ancient Burial Ground, and find out what type of activity this invited • Hear how a six-year-old girl took revenge on a pirate that killed her and her mom Whether it’s your first time in St Augustine or you’re a curious local, by the end of this 60-minute tour you’ll have a greater appreciation for the spirits that wander our streets, alleys, homes, and graveyards.
